Master Class Series on Advocacy


A highlight of TXAEYC's Advocacy during each Legislative Session is our "Early Childhood Day at the Capitol." Since 2021 will look different due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we are pleased to offer a special virtual Master Class Series designed to develop or deepen skills for advocates so you can confidently share about the importance of early childhood education with legislators, community partners, and others.

 

Sessions for Master Class Series on Advocacy will be offered on the second and fourth Tuesdays from February 9- June 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm- 2:15 pm


Tuesday, February 9:
Government and Advocacy 101 with Kim Kofron and Eric Knustrom 


Tuesday, February 23: Texas State Budget 101 with Eric Knustrom


Tuesday, March 9: Building Relationships with Legislative and Agency Staff  with Speakers TBA

Tuesday, March 23: Public Policy Through an Equity Lens with Lucy Recio and Aaron Merchen, NAEYC Public Policy Staff


Tuesday, April 13: Articulating Who We Are and Why We Matter with Speakers TBA


Tuesday, April 27: The Art of Storytelling So Elected Officials Listen with Amy O'Leary and Jerletha McDonald


Tuesday, May 11: Building Relationships with Your Community with Sue Hancock and Special Guests from San Antonio ECE Community


Tuesday, May 25: What Does Redistricting Mean to Me? with Eric Knustrom 

Tuesday, June 8: Where Do We Go From Here? Recapping Texas' 87th Legislative Session with Kim Kofron and Eric Knustrom 

 

All sessions will include a 15-minute update on TXAEYC's Legislative Priorities and Bills to Watch.
Session topics and speakers subject to change based on adjustments in need or availability.

Register today to take part in TXAEYC's Master Class Series on Advocacy. Choose to take part in all nine sessions or select specific topic(s). All registered attendees will receive the Zoom recording after each session. Training certificates will be available for attendees who join the session live.

Master Class Series on Advocacy is FREE for registered TXAEYC members and ECE students. Members will be asked to provide their NAEYC or SECA member number during registration. Students should use their .edu email address to register. Non-members will have a registration fee of $15 per session or $100 for all nine.
