Child Care Health Consulting Training Cohorts

Due to overwhelming interest in the CCHC Cohort beginning in November, we have had to close applications.
Another cohort will begin in April.

Child Care Health Consultants support the health, safety, nutrition, and development of young children by providing training and consultation to child care providers across the state. Child Care Health Consultants are individuals with background in health or early childhood education who have experience in early childhood settings and have undergone robust training and have demonstrated their knowledge in certain topics.

As part of the Healthy Child Care Texas program, TXAEYC trains multiple cohort of Child Care Health Consultants each year. The training consist of:

  • Three-day child care health consultant training (total of 15.5 hours)
  • 14 online training modules through Texas AgriLife Extension (total of 20 hours)
  • Distance learning supplemental assignments (approximately 13 hours)
  • A capstone project that requires the use of ITERS or ECERS in a child care center (approximately 12 hours)

Individuals seeking to become Child Care Health Consultants should hold an associate's degree and have at least 12 hours of coursework in child development or early childhood.
