HCCT-Social Emotional Development Project

  • A-
  • A+
The HCCT Social Emotional Project aims to provide training and support to child care programs in implementing a developmental screener program. The HCCT-SED Project provides a Child Care Health Consultant to provide training and support during the implementation, developmental screening, and referral process.

The HCCT-SED Project uses the Parent-Completed Ages & Stages Questionnaires – ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2. These universal developmental screening tools are used to identify children who are achieving developmental milestones and those at risk for a developmental delay.

During the 2021-2022 school year, child care centers in the following local workforce board areas are invited to apply to be part of the project:
  • Alamo
  • Cameron County
  • Coastal Bend
  • Deep East Texas
  • Golden Crescent
  • Lower Rio Grande Valley
  • Middle Rio Grande Valley
  • South East Texas
  • South Texas
  • Upper Rio Grande Valley

ASQ Train the Trainer Seminars

Healthy Child Care Texas (HCCT) hosts ASQ Train-the-Trainer seminars from Brooks Publishing on the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3/ ASQ:SE-2). These FREE training seminars cover the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 for children ages 0-6, which are universal developmental and social-emotional screening tools used to identify children at risk for a developmental delay.

Each seminar can accommodate up to 25 individuals and will certify participants to provide ASQ-3/ ASQ:SE-2 training and support to their agency providers and partnering providers. For more information, please visit https://agesandstages.com.
Participants must have a bachelor's degree in early childhood or a related field.
